Strandafjellet
When the dream lot came up for sale in Strandafjellet, this family didn’t need to think twice. The cabin would be located in the middle of the Sunnmøre Alps, which plunge into the fjord, opened up to the natural elements and the changing colour palette of the sky. The cabin dream became a reality with local furniture from Slettvoll, handcrafted in the same village.
They wanted a cosy cabin that would be with them them for the rest of their lives.
“We've gone all-in on this project and every detail has been meticulously planned. We were fortunate to find good, local professionals who were as obsessed with details as we were. Some may think that building a cabin is exhausting, but for us this was a dream project,” says Marielle. She and her family can now finally enjoy the wonderful result of three years of planning and building.
The large windows let in natural light and provide a breathtaking view from morning to night. If you sit on the light Elliot sofa you can look east, where the sky turns pink in the evening. From the Rocket daybed, you can see the ski centre to the west.

Margaret M. Delange took the photograph that hangs on the wall and adapts to all seasons. This motif is one of several pictures which can be purchased at Slettvoll, either framed or with Plexiglas.
While relaxing on warm woolly fabrics, mealtimes in the dining area can be enjoyed in the cabin's window seat.
The fireplace - the heart of the cabin. This is a good spot for Rooty, the rustic stool that can also be used as a small side table if desired. Its untreated teak design gives it an organic character that works equally well in a modern cabin as it does in a classic setting.
When cabin guests want to relax after a long day in the snow, they can snuggle under soft natural fabrics in the loft. The small Marcel oak table works well as a bedside table.
By the fire pit, it's a treat to settle down in the Cape chair. The chair is made of durable materials and has a light appearance that complements the cabin's style. The back is braided with black ribbon and cord made of olefin, a high-strength material. The Quick Dry cushions on this model are designed to withstand rain and dry quickly.
