Creating a home
We are influenced by our environments. It is especially important to thrive and enjoy ourselves in the space where we spend the majority of our time, in our homes. But what exactly makes for a good home?
“What unites us all at Slettvoll is the belief that our homes shape us as people and reflect who we are. That a home is the very foundation of our lives and helps to shape our identities. It inspires us to reflect, socialise, discover and create belonging,” says Live Slettvoll Myklebust, creative director at Slettvoll.
“Our homes, and the environments around and within them, reinforce and shape the stories and experiences we become a part of. The people who live in the house are the key people for us. We only lend a hand in staging these stories.
What makes a good home
Slettvoll creates unique furnishing solutions that reflect who you are.
“A good home is the place where you feel most comfortable. It should have the atmosphere and comfort you wish for, while also being a place where you like to spend time with friends and family. That is why it is critical to invest in the right furniture, colours and good quality,” says Lene Liguori, interior designer at Slettvoll, and adds:
“A good home is a sense of security.”

Quality that lasts
“Norwegians are becoming increasingly concerned about the environment and it’s smart to invest in long-lasting quality and design.
“At the same time, it is important that materials and labour have low air miles. When decorating, it is also important to consider timelessness. Timelessness is durability. Basic furniture could well be in neutral colours that you can live with for a long time. This makes it easier to change the look and environment by adding small details like colours in cushions, blankets, or plants, jars and interior items.
“A home is your ‘sanctuary’. For me, the term suggests the good feeling of calm and an atmosphere you feel most comfortable in,” says Ligouri.
"We live in a fast-paced world with constant information and outside influence.” It's even more important that you can wind down when you get home. The home should provide you with a sense of security and tranquility that you always want to come back to.
There are many important choices to make when furnishing and decorating a home. You will find knowledgeable interior designers in our stores who are happy to assist you – whether you want a new sofa or are looking to furnish an entire house.
