In the mountains

Family place. Favourite place. Sanctuary. The cabin is where we can recharge, whether it's by breathing in fresh mountain air that puts colour in our cheeks, or relaxing peacefully in front of the fire. Furniture that provides space and comfort for you, your friends and family.

For many, the cabin is a second home where they can truly slow down. At Slettvoll, you get help to give the cabin a personal touch and create an atmosphere where it is good to welcome family, friends and loved ones. Where long-lasting memories can be made.

The cabin is where we really learn to appreciate comfort. Every mountain cabin should therefore have a comfortable armchair and warm, quality fabrics.
Decorative cushions in soothing colours and materials help to set the tone in a room. Our cushions can be tailored with any of our fabrics and are filled with high-quality down that keep the cushion's shape.

Although the cabin is typically a bit smaller than the home, it usually needs to fulfill the same needs, according to interior designer at Slettvoll, Linn Lorentzen. She has helped plan the interior design for various cabins.

A personal sanctuary

“Colours, furniture, fabrics and textures all influence how we perceive our surroundings. We find the best solutions by getting to know the people who will be spending time in the cabin and the life they want to live there. The decoration can then contribute to the atmosphere and function that is appropriate for the individual family, says Lene. “Whether you prefer traditional romance and nostalgia, or a busier, modern cabin feel, Slettvoll furniture will provide space for both you and your guests to enjoy the cabin's comfort, regardless of which style you prefer.

"We find the best solutions by meeting the people who will spend time in the cabin and the life they want to live there."

Lene is always eager to learn about the needs that the various rooms will meet.

“When we plan how the rooms will be used, we often overlook minor details that are critical. It could be that the size of the furniture needs to be adjusted, the door needs to swing the other way, or one piece of furniture needs to serve multiple functions. It is advantageous to have experience with interior design in this field and that is exactly what we have at Slettvoll,” she continues.

The dining area

The Turner dining table has a solid wood tabletop that highlights the character of the wood. The table has stylish black steel legs and comes in three sizes with the option of two extra leaves. The Earnest dining sofa is available in a variety of sizes and provides a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. They form an inviting dining area when combined with the more serious Lago dining chair. Lago also has a practical, removable cover.

Advice from an interior designer

Customers who seek Lene's advice frequently visit the store to familiarise themselves with the furniture, but in many cases, they book a dedicated appointment for furnishing assistance. Time is then set aside for a peaceful advisory session, where Lene can provide guidance and sound advice using floor plans and diagrams. When you buy furniture from Slettvoll, you get this service for free. Lene describes the furnishing advice session as the beginning of a close and productive collaboration.

“During this process, I will be able to provide specific advice on the placement of furniture, lighting, colours, materials and fabrics that will tie the entire interior together. I often assist with the styling of interior items when the furniture is delivered,” she says. Appointments for furnishing assistance can easily be booked on Slettvoll's website or by contacting the nearest Slettvoll store by phone or e-mail.

Smart moves

Even though the cabin must function as a home at times, there are certain steps you can take to get the best out of the furnishings.

“In many cases, the living space in the cabin is somewhat smaller than at home. Multifunctional furniture can therefore be a good solution. This might be an ottoman with storage space that can be pushed under a console table, or a sturdier chair at the end of the dining table that can also be used in the sofa group. For the cabin, it is also important to have a well-planned patio or terrace and good garden furniture that can withstand weather and wind,” says Lene.

The interior designer is aware that a well-planned cabin is a good investment.

“Our aim is for you to be able to really unwind at the cabin. Just relax in the company of your guests, listen to the crackling of the fire and know that the Slettvoll furniture is built to last.”
